Miraj Shah

Software Developer

Hi, I'm Miraj! I'm currently a Senior Software developer at Majestic, a company that specialises in Link Intelligence Data, where I help build and maintain tools to help users digest backlink data. I grew up in London and studied at Aston University, Birmingham where I graduated with First Class Honours in Computer Science - achieving the highest grade in my year.

I have 6 years commercial experience in building large-scale data processing and web applications using Java, Scala, PostgreSQL and modern front-end technologies. I'm experienced in managing projects, making architecture decisions, Agile delivery and stakeholder management.

I'm a passionate Liverpool fan that follows them home and away. Fun fact, I achieved a Level One Coaching Football license from FA, in 2014. I love to cook and try new recipes. I enjoy travelling the world and exploring new places with my wife. I enjoy listening to music and playing the drums, which I have been playing since 2009. When I do get some spare time, I like to program.

Experience

July 2025 - Present
Senior Software Developer · Majestic-12 Ltd

Led and managed projects using an agile methodology. During these projects I made architecture decisions, removed impediments and facilitated coversations with stakeholders. This led me to becoming a qualified Scrum Master. I've designed and implemented big data pipelines to process large quantities of backlink data using Java and Scala, to help power Majestic Link Intelligence tools in a performance efficient manner. As I gained experience, I was able to help mentor and develop junior developers and placement students through pair programming, code reviews and general discussions about implemention strategies. Part of my responsibilities was to be part of the university student placement recruitment.

Used a variety of programming languages and frameworks to readily serve data to the front-end, including: Java, HTML, JavaScript inc. Vue.js. Addressed customer support tickets by quickly debugging and subsequently producing bug fixes.

Match Tracker Dashboard Page

Having thought of the idea after an away game, I started to develop this web application as part of my final year project at Aston University. This site lets match going fans track the Premier League and Champions League matches they've been to, reporting and visualising match statistics for those games. Created at a time where Match Tracking websites were not readily available, and in an increasingly paperless world.

Hack created to improve my knowledge and challenge myself to use technologies I had not used before. This is a gallery mosaic web application that randomly renders preset photos in a mosaic fashion using grid CSS. Currently only renders photos from games I have been too.
